Losing a limb is traumatic in more ways than just the injury.  New amputees are confronted with many issues.  Returning to work, family roles, body image and returning to recreational pursuits are just the beginning.  You need some help.  Your doctor, your prosthetist and your physical therapist are critical team members in getting you on your feet again, both figuratively and literally.
From pre-prosthetic preparation and making component recommendations based on your needs, to prosthetic training and all the bumps in the road along the way, Pinnacle PT is there for you.  You need someone with the experience and expertise to help you navigate these new waters.  Prosthetic training can be tricky sometimes.  A new limb may fit perfectly today only to be all wrong again tomorrow.  You need someone who can recognize subtle indications of when adjustments need to be made.  You need someone who can tell the difference between the altered gait of someone using a prosthesis and the altered gait of someone whose prosthesis is not working or adjusted properly.  Yes, your prosthetist knows this but they are not the ones who will be working with you for hours and weeks to return you to all the activities you will need to do.  You need an expert at Pinnacle physical therapy.
Honestly, some things will get better no matter what you do with them, but not always.  You need to get it right.  The sooner the better.  If you don't come to us, do yourself a favor.  Ask around.  Find someone with years of amputee experience and not just someone who has seen a few.  Or come to Pinnacle first.
