Different clinicians all have their own styles and philosophy.  A particular physician may have an aggressive rehab philosophy, while another may have a more conservative style, even if treating a similar problem. One is not inherently "better" than another, just different.  Just as individuals may have different responses to a certain medication, so too can people have greater or lesser responses to a particular therapeutic philosophy.  Some of this may be related to the personalities of both patient and therapist.  Some people mesh well together, others don't.  If your expectations are very different from our treatment approach, the therapeutic relationship suffers.   If this is the case, we will gladly refer you to someone who fits your needs more closely.  We would rather "lose your business" to someone who meets your needs, than frustrating the healing process by trying to make a round peg fit into a square hole.

So what is the Pinnacle PT philosophy?  First, it is anchored in the available research.  When available, we mirror treatment approaches that have been proven effective through published, quality research studies.  When these studies are not available, treatment always follows sound and logical anatomic, physiologic and bio-mechanical principles.

We believe that long term changes in the body require consistent effort.  The more consistent the effort, the more productive the results.  Passive interventions, like modalities where something is done to you, may have some transient symptom relieving influence, but unless coupled with active exercises on your part, they are unlikely to have any lasting effect.  Passive interventions may have a small role in the therapeutic process but rarely a dominant role.

At Pinnacle PT, therapists utilize a combination of exercise based, functional and manual techniques to maximize your return to optimal performance and alleviate pain as quickly as possible.

Many people are concerned that physical activity will only aggravate their pain or symptoms.  Rest assured that all exercises, activities and programs are modifiable or adjustable to your current tolerance.  This means we will create an individualized program for you, that can be accomplished without making your symptoms any worse.  We do not follow the "No Pain, No Gain" philosophy that many people equate with, and fear from physical therapists.  If you work in pain, your pain will increase, if you work in tolerance, your tolerance will increase.  But you do have to work at it.  Frequently, these exercises will form the basis of a maintenance program that many people will continue beyond discharge.

Once we have achieved your rehab goals, you will be discharged with a home program designed to maintain the gains you have made and reduce the potential for flare ups and recurrences.  If you have reached your goals ahead of schedule, and many people do, we will not continue to make appointments just because your insurance carrier will pay for more visits.  That is not fair to anyone.

All businesses thrive on a loyal customer base.  We are no exception.  However, we have succeeded at doing our best job, if you never have to see us again, for the same problem.  To us, loyalty does not mean coming in every few months for a tune up.  That means we didn't do our job well in the first place.  Loyalty means that the next time you have need of a physical therapist, (for a different problem) you will come back to someone whose goal is to get you better as fast as possible, and to do it in a way that you stay better.  Loyalty means that the next time someone you care about needs a physical therapist, you will want them to go to someone else who will care about their issues just as much, and treat their problems the way you had been treated.

At Pinnacle PT, we are building our reputation on getting it done right the first time, and without unnescesary delay.  Call us today and see what a difference Pinnacle Physical Therapy can make for you.
